OK, I am new, sorry for my ignorance.
I have instructions that read like this:
Upload Your Files To Your WebServer
You now need to upload the contents of the folder called “files to upload” to
your webserver. You can use any ftp program

I uploaded the entire folder "files to upload" this folder has 5 subfolders, that have their own folders, etc. Someone has told me that I was not supposed to upload the main folder, just its contents, is this correct? If so, how can I unload this folder, or do i need to do that? Also, after I get the correct folders loaded, what do I do? Do I just click upload, or do I need to do anything with Sync and Download? I have searched for instructions and can not find any. Also, on the tutorial it says to change my file name to .html, but this is not in the instructions I recieved when I bought my website program. Sorry for all the questons, any help is appreciated.

Are you using your own FTP program to upload your files, or are you using the tools in cPanel? You can simply move all the files out of the directory and delete it.

If you're using a pre-made website, the filenames probably don't need to be changed.

Try a standalone FTP utility like Filezilla (http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/). It will give you more control over your website. Once you have connected to the FTP server, move all your files up one directory by highlighting them all, and dragging them to the top folder labeled "..".
