I volunteered to be the web admin for a non-profit organization. Now they want to accept credit card payments from the website so that they can collect donations online. I have never set up online payments before. Any recommedations? Maybe Paypal or any other choices? pros and cons ? Any links that I can follow to find out how to embed this feature into the website?

Thanks!

Do you have vBulletin? I can get you a link or two for a vBulletin Hack to accept Paypal. I believe if you go to Paypal they have an embeded link area to help you with that too.

Paypal has such options. You can accept paypal or credit cards on there. Just upgrade your account to business account to do so. Hope this helps.

vBulletin are forums like these. If you don't have it then you don't want that. Use what the guy said above here. Go to Paypal and use their info. If you want to just use cc then I'm sure there is a script to buy for that.

I'll second the others, PayPal seems to be pretty popular for donations, and they give a generated html code you can just place on your site.

PayPal is great! Their documentation is a bit hard to get through, but it's probably the easiest way to process online credit card payments.

I have been going back through some old threads looking for good questions that HostMonster (http://www.alreadyhosting.com/reviews/hostmonsterreview.php) customers may be looking for answers on... This question is a very popular question so I thought I would give a quick answer:

There are many options for accepting money online:

1 - The easiest method is paypal, there is a lot less work for you and the fees a quite low compared to other companies.

2- You can use an online gateway (such as Authorize.net) to process your payments.

3- Now Google Checkout has become very popular... I really like this service provided by Google.
