Anyone know of a way to blacklist ranges of IP addys in the Spam Assassin Configuration? The last host I had allowed this and it worked very well for stopping mail spam.

Thanks, ComputerGenius

Don't know if it works here, but with our old host (www.sitegroundsucks.com), you would just add the first groups and leave the range blank. These are non-routable, but here is an example. Assume you want to block the range of 192.186.2.0 to 192.168.2.254. You would just add into the block list 192.168.2 That worked fine. Or if you want to block the range of 192.168.xxx.xxx through 192.168.xxx.xxx, you would enter 192.168 into the block list. Try it... see if it works with HM.

P.S. These guys are top notch and like I mentioned above, we know what a bad host is like.

Can't seem to configure it that way. I got about 50 IP ranges to configure, and it will only let me place about 6. So I guess I will read up on spam assassin and learn it!

Thanks for your help,

ComputerGenius;

The interface for Spamassassin limits you to 5 entries then you have to save/update. You could try editing your spamassassin prefs by hand found in
/home/youruser/.spamassassin/user_prefs

Thanks, I will take a look at that tonight and post an update when I figure it out.

I think if you make the five entries and save it then go back, you can add more entries.

After about an hour of copy, cut and paste I uploaded it back to the folder. And it looks as if its workin. I noticed that it increased the 5 blacklist entries to include all the addys I placed in the user_prefs file. :D
