Hello,
I have a domain and a few sub-domains for three sites. One of the sub-domain sites has a forum that I think is causing the problem. It's part of the PHPNuke install.
I got a call yesterday that one of the sites was down. In IE it's a 500 error, in firefox it's a blank white page. After talking to tech support, I learned that the following process was listed on the "list of running processes" on the error log:
/usr/bin/php admin_board.php
It was repeated many times. When all of the processes are killed, all three sites come back and are fine. At one point today, the same thing happened. Anybody have a clue what the issue is and how to resolve it?
Thanks,
Jason

This error message appears in firefox when going to the subdomain URL:
[an error occurred while processing this directive]
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Jason

I think you should check with the PHPnuke community. It seems like a script problem. You might want to try a fresh install with the latest version and see if it helps. I don't think any of us here are experts in PHPNuke.

I had a problem with an out-of-control script on one of my non-hostmonster sites a while back. It was due to a cron job that was running the script before the script had a chance to complete.
I had the cron job set to run every minute (per setup instructions) and once I change it to about 10 minutes, it has been stable and smooth.
I seriously doubt this is the same type of problem you are having. As Aaron said, I'm not sure who here is an expert on PhpNuke. Please post your solutions when you find them for the rest of us here!
Kindest Regards,

Thanks for your responses. I believe the error was coming out of phpbb, which is integrated into the PHP Nuke install. I was going to try to manually update phpbb since it was a couple revs out of date.
Instead I did a full upgrade of PHP Nuke through Fantastico and so far everything has been ok. Of course, it hasn't been a day yet. It may be fixed without ever really knowing the problem. I'll post specifics if it comes back or I ever figure it out.

Well, bridging scripts that try and integrate a CMS and a forum software can be buggy. I've seen a good many complaints about bridging scripts not working. Let's hope your problem has gone! If not, I suspect it's probably the bridge that's causing the problem. PhpNuke and PhpBB by themselves are extremely stable, so I suspect it's the bridge.

Thanks, Aaron. Sounds like good advice. It might be worth removing phpBB from the install all together and using a completely separate forum (or phpBB just installed seperately).

I think it's better to do a separate install. You don't really know what to expect when you try and mix two seemingly good medicines together. You might just get poisoned!
I'm more a fan of Simple Machines Forum instead of phpBB these days. SMF seems more intuitive to administer. Do check it out.
