Hi,

I have been a Joomla! convert for over a year and have just tried the 1.5RC3 version. It appears to be pretty stable and close to official release, but who knows when the actual distribution will happen. I REALLY REALLY like this new version. I can't see going back to the older one.

I've tried installing it on my account on Hostmonster, but get a database error when I get to that part of the installation. I don't see that in 1.0.x or on 1.5 on my localhost. I've already deleted the install, or I'd give the exact error.

Has anybody tried to run Joomla! 1.5RCx here? If so were you successful? If so, how?

Thanks in advance,

Justin

I've installed a demo at http://demos.4christministry.org/joomla15

here is my version I'm running .. I believe it's RC3:

Joomla! 1.5.0 Production/Stable [ Takriban ] 5-October-2007 21:00 GMT

It is a shame you don't have the error anymore.

I installed it fine as well...

I don't think I'll go to that version straight away as a lot of the plugins etc. will take a while to come out with 1.5 versions. Plus I'm still trying to come to grips with what it actually gives you over the 1.0.x versions...

I can get the error again, I just want to make sure I do everything right in getting to that point. It takes quite a while to upload it all.

I unzipped 1.5RC3 on my local harddrive then transfered all the files via ftp. I then ran the site setup (by typing in the site's URL into the browser). I got past the normal stuff, it listed all the configuration data as green, but then at the database part when I entered it, I received somesort of can't access database error.

Did you do anything different?

Thanks, Justin

You sure you are using the right database settings?

Server should be localhost
Database name with be hostmonsteraccountname_databasename
User name will be hostmonsteraccountname_username
And password will hopefully not be password :D

(And I assume you have created the database/users already?)
