View Full Version : Need help with creating members database

I've searched through several of the programs offered in the Fantastico list, but I haven't found or don't comprehend what half of them do, so let me explain what I'm trying to create, and maybe someone can recommend one for someone that is extremely new to scripting and entering freehand code (my term for HTML, PHP , and CSS scripting and syntax)

OK what I am trying to create:

I want to make a login field for username and password (like how you logon onto these forums). I want the members info to goto a data base that I can create custom fields for and make it editable by the user for what I need, and link it to a separate page named "Members" that is visible to all other members for things like statistics. This is for a Gaming fansite by the way.

Example of what I want to be available (visually)

Character Name: Bobo
Race: Human
Class: Fighter
Str: x0
Dex: x0
Int: x0
Wis: x0
AC: xxxx
HP: xxxx

I want it to be laid out in a Spreedsheet type format, kinda like tables are, and I want my users to be able to add additional character (Alts) to associate with their main character.

Is there a program available through the control panel (fantastico) that can do this for me with out having to actually manually write the script, like something with a GUI that lets you create database' visually kinda like the HTML editor? Or will I have to purchase 3rd party software? I've been looking at a program called Content Manager, but I'm not sure that it will let me out source the data to a page on my website without getting another program called PHPMagic.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
S. Moore

Not quite what I was looking for, don't really need a help desk. here is an example of a site that has a section on it that I would like something simuliar for mine, with the option to add custom skin colors, and a login with a section that users can edit info for their profiles and such. Here (http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=51602&TabID=527083)

Wow, 1 person responded in 3 days, and no one from Support. Am I in the right forums section? BTW Thank you for your suggestion kgwd, but the Helpdesk program wasn't really what I needed, and it is in Beta right now, so I really didn't want a buggy program with only one skin, but thanks for at least responding to my query. But it looks like I'm not going to get any help here apparently. Now the MySQL Data base is down, and half my website is out(Forums SMF). I can't even access fantastico through the control panel, it tells me the MySQL Server is not available. Please contact the Host. I'm hoping it's just a backup they're doing and not a worse issue.

Thanks
