View Full Version : Http: 405 ARGGGG
I am having a devil of a time implementing Paypal IPN. I have tried numerous scripts, going through Paypal, posting to forums and the net result is that every script results in a http 405 error, which basically means Method (or post not allowed).
I've gone to IPN testing sites which still result in a 405 error no matter which script I try.
I've had a number of discussions with HM and they are not aware of any settings which need to be adjusted. I'm still thinking it's some sort of config issue as all scripts behave the same. It doesn't matter if the request originates through a test purchase from Paypal's sandbox or from a testing site. The result is always the same -- the inbound post from Paypal seems to work, but the corresponding post back to Paypal gets the 405.
Any ideas on this one?
Thanks.

Unfortuneately, I'm not a programmer, but what it sounds like to me is a broken set of scripts.
If they work in one direction and not the other, and all the scripts act the same everywhere else, then I would look at the functions in the scripts that are causing the errors and check for misspelled words, missing end-of-line characters (I'm notorious for leaving the ( ; ) out of my CSS) and other such things.
I know there are a few people here that are pretty solid with php. Maybe they would be willing to help you look at the code to find the issues.
I know it wasn't much help for you, but;
Kind regards (anyway ;)),

I think part of the problem is that the scripts are trying to post back to a page with no extension. Just my opinion. Does an apache or other setting need to be changed? Page: https://www.sandbox.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr
I can't believe every script is incorrect when they are said to be working for others.

It sounds like you got these scripts from PayPal? Maybe some other programmer that created them.
If they work for other individuals, I probably would track down the owner of the files and tell them your issues. PayPal might have a FAQ on the subject?
Sorry I can't be of more help...

shadmego, if you're not a programmer, how did you develop your websites?

Bobby ...
Good question. I developed my website using mainly open source software. The base site is managed by the Joomla! CMS and I have several components and templates working together to provide the content.
I still have not yet had the time to update the site very much and am looking for a partner that wants to help with that ... (if anyone is interested!! *hint*) ... but I hope to get some updated stuff there in the next month between my summer and fall semester.
Right now, I'm working on developing some very beginner HTML and CSS tutorials for those people that don't want to wade through technical papers or long-winded explanations. I plan on making my tutorials hands-on based and video-oriented.
~regards!

P.S. I apologize to the community for being away for soooo long ... life has been entirely too hectic these last few months ... If someone wants to get in touch with me, please feel free to contact me via the private message system here, or at my website.
