View Full Version : Delays Sending Email to Comcast?

Has anyone else encountered delays when sending email to people using Comcast internet service?
I have been sent examples of recipients of email sent from my Host Monster account who have had delays up to 24 hours. It happens frequently, if not every time I send email to people w/ an @comcast.net email address.
Any insight would be appreciated. Thx.

I'm new to HM and I have the same problem and it's not acceptable to me. I have another web site and the forwarding time to my Comcast address is almost instant. Have you asked HM about it?

I just called HM and the problem is with Comcast. They evidently are blocking HM emails due to a spam problem some time ago. The spam problem has been resolved but Comcast still has a block in place. Another reason I’m not a fan of the cable weasels but in my situation it beats DSL. I switched my forwarding to another email address and everything works great. You should probably try doing the same thing. BTW, the Tech person I talked to was very knowledgeable and helpful and real pleasure to work with.

I've been experiencing this for the past couple months or so and it's been getting worse for the past few weeks. Most of my forwarder issues are related to comcast but a couple other ISPs are blocking/delaying the emails from time to time. So far my record of a delayed email is 2 1/2 days.
I tried contacting comcast but of course, I cannot get to a person that actually knows anything and my current ticket is that comcasts thinks I cannot forward email from my own comcast account.
Unfortunately it's not easy to get everyone with a comcast address to setup an another to forward it back to comcast.
The HM rep I talked to suggested a mail throttler but I don't see how that will help since comcast tends to discriminate against HM, and since it's shared, you don't have any control over the total amount of email comcast receives from HM.
I'm thinking of investigating a separate email provider just to get a reliable way to get email out to everyone on the various email lists. Has anyone looked at this option?

An email "throttler" will send out mass emails in small batches (3, 4, 5 at a time, or whatever you think is reasonable) so that email filters aren't stopping emails that contain a bunch ofaddresses in the "To:" field. I know that Yahoo! stops emails with more than 6 emails in the "To:" field. Embarq apparently starts blocking at 10. Every ISP is different, so you have to check it out and modify your sending to accomodate these restrictions.
A really good program I use is called Dada Mail. I have mine throttled to send out baches of 3 emails for the entire list. There are other programs out there that do the same thing, but you can get Dada Mail for free ... http://mojo.skazat.com.

My emails only have one address in the "To" field (it's the alias/forwarder email address) so I don't think they will fall into the category of your example. Nonetheless, I may have to go try Dada mail.
Judging from the Comcast forums, they have really over tighten up their filters in the past few weeks where there are several complaints about legitimate/desirable emails being rejected by Comcast.
Also, evidentially, once Comcast finds a few "spams" from a certain email server (IP address), then it stops filtering the messages and just rejects all from the server.

Yeah.. according to your problem.. some of my friends who are using Hm are just like you.. I have contacted Hm about this problem and I think the it is because of comcast.. But there are still many reason to consider like ISP that are sometimes blocking the way of the email. But i have never encountered this problem.

Yes I have encountered some delays when I am sending an email.. But in my case I am using an application that will help me delay my emails.. Unlike yours is different.

I am also using comcast and your problem is a common problems. Usually delays in sending or receiving emails through Comcast means that it has something to do with your firewall.
