Ok, I keep seeing this same problem popping up with different apps...though I still can't seem to be able to get it resolved in any of them. :confused:

I setup the SMF (Simple Machines Forum) in an addon domain. When a user registers, they receive a "Welcome" email from the forum. However, the "from" address is "mainaccount@mail42.hostmonster.com" (mainaccount being my main domain account main ID).

By default, SMF uses sendmail. I tried to switch it to SMTP with different combinations of SMTP server addresses, user accounts. and ports with no success. At this point, it appears that new users can't even register...I believe the registration feature has been disabled.

What is the "secret sauce" that will get the proper "from" address to show up?Has anyone seen this registration lockout happen? Does this require a call to support?

Ok, ok...looks like I got the "from" email issue figured out...for SMF, anyway. The reason it took so long (and became frustrating) was the error I started receiving:

An Error Has Occurred!
You are not allowed to access this section

...whenever I used the "self register" option to create a test login ID.

Is this something I need to clear up at the database level? I can't get to another machine (IP) right now, but I wondered if this error is isolated to my IP...am I effectively locked out?

If you want me to register a test account, I can. I'm not familiar with SMF boards, so I can't really give much guidance there.

Thanks for the offer, shad. Actually the solution was much simpler than I thought...I just deleted cookies.
