I run three sites and I often find them all down together!

About once a week I get the 'Exceeded cpu' screen of death.

I often get emails from other webmasters that say they can't see my site, what must my members be thinking?

Well, maybe it is my fault or maybe it it hostmonsters.

maybe I will never know, but I saw nothing in the contract saying that I can't run busy databases!

I am going to post here, every time I get no access.

Suspened! Screen of death, soon after I wrote this.
Is that what my visitors see? I would prefer it if they received a 'Site busy, please call back' notice.

Don't you think that would be better? my visitors might think they have accessed a site that has been banned for doing something wrong.

I would look at your code. It seems there is some code on your site that is not running efficiently. Perhaps it is a mysql query that is running too often. Perhaps some php code is eating up too many cpu cycles during a page render.

The possibilities are endless. I know of some sites run by people here that get a huge amount of traffic and I don't hear of them getting a site suspended error.

People don't usually like to hear it is their code, but this is the most common reason why sites load slowly and get suspended for exceeding cpu allowances.

database crashed?
that's horrible.

For database usage, there is limitations of how many simultaneous connection that you can make at one time. and the CPU process limitation as well

Suspended Screen of death!!
i think this is actually the longest time between crashes!

Is anything being reported in your error logs?

When people use canned scripts and/or free installations they
find, there are no guarantees on the robustness or efficiency.

Don't blame hostmonster or any of the hosting sites. These
sites try to protect themselves and the other tenants by
limiting cpu resources, storage, and bandwidth.

It's always bad code. Not necessarily the ones you wrote,
but nonetheless bad. Quit the damn whining. Most of us are
shared tenants. We don't want your crappy code messing
up the shared computer we're on.

What do you want hostmonster to do? Let your crappy code
run as much as it wants, and degrade everybody else?

Sheesh!

Try optimizing your MySQL database. From the cPanel go into PHPAdmin, then open the database and select all of the tables. At the bottom of the list of tables to the right you'll see a pull down menu. Select "Optimize".

Try optimizing your MySQL database
I do this at least every 5 days.

There is nothing we users can do to fix this. You will have to contact support.
