If hostmonster cannot give you unlimited bandwidth then surely they should not advertise they can give you it, Isn't that like the worst thing you can do is promise something you cannot deliver. Yeah i know why they can't offer it but thats not the point, if they can't deliver then they shouldn't advertise it, let alone advertise it as a key feature.

i believe if you need it you can just ask and they will raise it from whatever your default was.
First of all, nothing is "unlimited".
You are fully entitled to the bandwidth you were promised when you signed up.
If you signed up before they went unlimited, they will raise you when your account gets close to your current bandwidth limits.
You will most likely exceed CPU limits (which is limited and not advertised) before you ever get to the point of using too much bandwidth. People often confuse CPU with bandwidth. Which are two separate things.

But you need unlimited cpu limits for unlimited bandwidth to work so it is really false advertising, it's like an electrical company advertising unlimited electricity but only if you use one light bulb in the house at one time, which isn't unlimited.

You're confusing Site Bandwidth with Network Throughput. Site Bandwidth refers to the amount of data you are entitled to transfer each month. Network Throughput is the speed at which that data is transferred. If you exceed the limitations of the Network Throughput, which is also influenced and controlled by CPU Utilization, your account will be temporarily disabled to ensure the hundreds of other accounts on the server are accessible. This means that any other account on your server that burns up too many server resources will also be disabled, thus providing an equal and fair amount of processing power to your account.
It's important to realize you're in a shared environment, and that shared environment must be managed in a fashion that utilizes the limited resources most efficiently. If you want full access and control of all server resources, then a shared environment is not right for you.

That is completely untrue. CPU has nothing to do with bandwidth. Hostmonster is a web host, not the electric company.
If your site is static you can use as much bandwidth as you'd like with absolutely no CPU. When your site is dynamic, your scripts relay of the server to do some kind of processing before its outputted, which does use CPU. All of my sites are very dynamic and I have never once had the dreaded CPU error. I have also seen many site on bluehost and hostmonster that have hundreds of thousands of visitors each month that are completely dynamic with no CPU errors.
No sever side script should take more then a slip second to process, same goes with a database query. If it's taking more an a few seconds to process that there's something wrong with the script/database and needs to be optimized. Hostmosnter has very generous CPU limits which no dynamic site should ever go over.

So do you mean that if I wish to transfer >25000 GB per month of bandwidth, with no set limit on the daily usage, it would be possible and as a result HM wouldn't have any problem with it ?

As long as your site is programmed correctly, you're not violating the TOS in any way, and you're not going over the CPU limits, you are well within your rights to use that much bandwidth.

I have used a lot of bandwidth with my site and have never had a problem.. It may not be unlimited but it sure is a lot... And honestly will all the web hosting companies going to the "unlimited" trend; HostMonster is doing the right thing to compete... I see all of your points of view though, don't get me wrong.
