Is there a way through HostMonster to obtain Joomla Updates/Upgrades just as you were able to install Joomla itself?
thanks.

No, as far as I know. You'll have to update Joomla! to its latest version manually.

Joomla! updates can be obtained by going to their site, www.joomla.org. Be carefull though. The core files of Joomla! can be updated very easily by uploading the new scripts over the old ones via FTP, but if you have installed any components, modules or mambots, they may not work properly after the update. I would take care to research all your added components before an update to see if there are compatible versions for the update you are going to install. Even some templates have been known to break after an update for Joomla!.

Fantistico will eventually carry the update. (It had the latest version maybe a week after it was public on joomla.com) Just check that and it will say you need to update if you installed it with that. If you update manually Fantastico will still think you have the old version. That bugs me cause it doesn't match. So if you want to update manually, install it manually as well. Then you don't have to worry about keeping fantistico version numbers updated if it bugs you like it does me..
