I am a novice with web design and I intend to hire someone to do make my site for me and I would like to know the costs of certain features.

How much would a forum with instant posting (im sorry i dont know the correct term) cost? How much would a forum that emails replies to administrator cost?

How much is the addition of static imaging?, like 5 slides of a powerpoint presentation be?

Also, is it harder to make some changes to a site or to design a site from scratch? I already have a design from oswd.org that I'd like to use, I just want to add a powerpoint feature to the homepage.

I appreciate any answers partial or full. Also please leave me a message if you or you know anyone that would be interested in creating my site. Im starting my price at $200, please tell me if that is fair.

I'm not sure of you own oswd.org (I assume that you don't, and you want something that looks like that).

If you're looking for someone to help design a website like that, you can try http://www.getafreelancer.net or http://www/joomlancers.com

These 2 are sites where freelancers gather to bid for jobs, so you are assured of a competitive price. I'm working with one freelancer now, and if you like his contact, let me know. My opinion is that he charges reasonably.

As for a forum with instant posting, I assume you mean something like this forum. This forum is powered by vBulletin, which isn't free. If you only need a simple forum, there are 2 pretty good opensource forums that are free. They are phpBB and SimpleMachine.

You can try installing either phpBB or SimpleMachine from Fantastico in your control panel. Just login to your control panel, go to Scripts & Stats and click on Fantastico. Look for phpBB or SimpleMachine on the left column, click either and then fill up the information on the right. The installation is automatic and then you can login to test if the forum is to your liking.

I suggest you to go to Fantastico section which is avilable in cpanel.
On the left hand side u will get links for softwares that are automatically installed.As far as ur question to install forum,u can choose phpbb which is free.Don't spend any money.Just install it and play with it,sooner you will find it comfortable
