I'm physically here in Singapore. I don't see a problem where the server is based, really. The Internet goes everywhere. What matters more is whether the server is reliable and value for money.

Not so. The internet still crosses a physical plane, so the closer the servers are to you/ your customers; the faster their pages will load. Not to mention net congestion greatly increases with distance, since the backbones are shared with, well, everyone.

True. If the need for speed is primary consideration, and that you know the physical location of the bulk of your audience, then you can make a better decision on where to physically locate your server. However, if you are catering to a global audience, I think it doesn't really matter anymore because you can't please everyone!
