The powerpoint like slideshow on those sites, what is the proper term for that? And is there a technical term for a forum? Thanks fellas.

Those are Flash based slideshows. It takes a special program to create (not free, unfortunately) called Adobe Flash. You can find out more information on flash at http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/flashpro/. As well, you can get a nice little flash slideshow program called SimpleViewer available free here: http://www.airtightinteractive.com/simpleviewer/
