support tells me that Hostmonster can stream videos.
i have home mini dvds that has the _vob extensions and
it appears that i can treat them as mpeg files. has anybody
tried streaming videos? what i mean by streaming, is having
the video start playing immediately instead of waiting for
the whole file to download.

I use CPG (http://coppermine-gallery.net/index.php) to host my videos. Videos are embedded into a page and can be set to autostart. It seems to work pretty well.

Ended up uploading my videos to google. Since I didn't want the clips
to show up in the search, i listed them as private. Once google
published the clip, I pasted the HTML generated into my website.
The videos are streaming nicely. Since the clips are stored in
Google, I'm not using up my space allowance in HostMonster.
