I've picked up on how to get addon domains set up and setting up email and ftp accounts and all of that sort of thing is simple enough. What I'm curious about is whether or not there is a way to set up some form of administration similar to what the main domain user has for addon domains such that the hosted user of the addon domain can use various tools specifically for their domain. Is there any way to make this happen here or am I out of luck and in need of a different platform?
TIA,
Jay

After having asked that question I decided to try logging in using the ftp username/password of one of the other domains I set up and it gave me the exact same access to my cpanel as if I had logged in as my primary domain. That can't possibly be good...

Unfortunately, there is no way to do that. You have to administer on behalf of those whose domains you added on. If they want to adminster their own cpanel, they need to get their individual account.

personally i think its better this way... just not worth the hassel in my opinion to manage hosting for everyone... why not use hm affliate program instead ?
to each his/her own :)

If what you are talking about is selling the space you bought to other people so they can host their own sites, then what you need is a resellers license. I don't know what the policy is for that with Hostmonster, so you might ask them about that.
As far as ftp accounts. I'm pretty sure than when you create ftp accounts, they are all attached to the main account through CPanel. You don't have the proper permissions to fragment your home directory like you want (if I'm understanding you correctly.
The only other thing you could try to do is set up username/password protected directories off your public_html folder. Then assign specific users to those directories. As far as limiting ftp users to those directories, again, I'm pretty sure you are out of luck because you can't rewrite the http.conf file to create the proper virtualdomains. Even if you could, you would still need each user to have their own account on the server to assign to each directory.
You may be out of luck.

Hostmonster does not currently offer reseller accounts, nor are there plans to do so anytime soon. This plan is meant for individual webmasters who carry many domains, and folks that know a good deal when they see one. If you are interested in reselling the space you get here (which is allowed, within the bounds of our Terms of Service Agreement), you will need to handle all administrative tasks yourself, and only give FTP and email access to your users.
