Server Requirement Error

I installed OS Commerce Shopping cart software on my site -- however when I go to the admin panel for the cart this server error appears:

Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration. This can be enabled in your php.ini configuration file or in the .htaccess file in your catalog directory.

I changed all of the php.ini files to reflect "register_globals" on, but that does not seem to work. Any thoughts or suggestions?:confused:

I think it is a server side issue. Due to the inherent security risks in enabling register_globals, most commercial servers have chosen to turn it off. I would suggest that you use another shopping cart until OS Commerce comes out with a new version that does not require register_globals.

I am using Shopscript.
It is pretty easy to modify and accepts paypal. Plus it is free, unless you need a Wal-Mart size program.

It is running on Hostmonster..installed with no problems.

Hello,
I got osCommerce installed but had to add php.ini to the root where "admin" is AND to "admin". It worked!
BUT, the cart doesn't work: it won't hold shopping cart items at checkout AND it won't let you create an account.
I have this shopping cart installed at www,mapsonformula.com with netfirms as host. Everything works & I have made additions & modifications and all's OK.
Netfims server isn't as fast as HM.
