Unable to connect to XML Socket server

I'm trying to run a socket server (I've tried using a PHP and a PERL version), and connect to it via a Flash client.

I have the port opened for incoming connections, but I can't connect. Anyone have any idea what's wrong?

What port is it running on? Unless you have a dedicated IP address you can't isolate any ports for your own use.
