View Full Version : Sign-on Page to ftp site from our Website
Hi All-
I am exploring ideas on how I should have my clients access their ftp accounts. I know I can launch a broswer to ftp://ftpuser@yourdomain.com@yourdomain.com, however, most browsers no longer support ftp.
My clients are used to going to my website to login. We are switching from our current site, to host monsters ftp accounts.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advanced.

I am sure you have a reason to want to use FTP. I can't think of a way to do this easily through a browser unless you find a program that can wrap FTP functionality inside a Java program (limited support on HM servers) or some other type of feature that emulates FTP usage via a browser.
While most modern browsers don't support a fully featured FTP environment, most/all modern operating systems support FTP natively. Windows, Macs and just about all flavors of *nix operating systems have built-in support for FTP.
If you don't want to go that route, which would require you to write out tutorials on FTP usage for each environment your clients utilize, you can have them download any number of FTP programs to run on their computers. FileZilla, CuteFTP, FireFTP or any number of other programs will work. You will still have to write tutorials, but if you limit your users/clients to one supported program, you will only have to write one tutorial.
Unless I completely misunderstood your questions and what you were looking for in an answer, that's my best advice.
