I will email them and let them know. I had no problem adding one, maybe its a permissions issue.

Usually with vBulletin there are options you need to change. I see one option they just changed was this Quick Reply. Right when i joined I had to click a button now i don't.

My avatar showed up after 4 posts.

This site has a lot of avatars free. http://www.avatarist.com/

You can resize them, if necessary at http://resizepic.com/

I've tried numerous times to upload my avatar and every time it says "unable to upload file" or "unable to save file". Tried both from my local hard drive and from an http:// address. No joy.

Any help?

Winders tells me it's a 80x78 .gif weighing in at 4.00KB. I even tried a smaller one.

It's attached below.

You're right. The problem may be at Hostmonster. I'd send them a message.

I'm confused. I thought this site was independent of HostMonster. Do they run it?

It's their forum.

It's their forum.

Wrong. This is a user to user forum. Not an official forum from hostmonster. This forum is hosted host hostmonster servers, but is not run by hostmonter employees or admins. It's run by me and the other moderators.

Hi RDM

I have a little more then 10 posts and can't upload Avatar - Idea Why ?

Size is 79x36, in JPEG and it has 2,68 KB, all inside the limits.

I also tried smaller ones, no success. Always say's "unable to upload picture"

There is evidently a 10-post test of character to get by first.

I'm expecting to get there about March or so.

Ok, I now have an amazing post count of 10. But it still won't allow me to upload my avatar.

Is there somewhere someone who can fix this thing?

It still says "Unable to save image".

Well, I checked my post count - it's 35 - and I can't upload an avatar. I've got a tiny one only 4kb and 40x45 in size, yet i get the same message - unload to load.

Should we just declare this forum dead as evidently there are no administrators around to fix the broken avatar feature?

I just tried to change my avatar with one that was well within the limits and I got the same message. I also checked images that were too large in pixels and in file size and got error messages telling me where I was out of bounds. The general error message will need further research.

I also don't have access to the configuration area of the forum so I will have to contact an administrator and ask that they check things out. I can't say how long it will take to get a response back, but I ask that everyone remain patient. We will get this sorted out.

Until then, I want everyone to know I am aware of the problem and am working to get it corrected. In the meantime, I am going to lock this thread. I will reopen it when I hear something and post my findings.

Please stay subscribed and you will hear what's going on when I do.

~regards

Just over 8 months ago, I closed this thread and asked you all to wait while I tried to work with admins to get the avatar problem resolved.

I am happy to announce that the problem has been resolved.

Come to find out, there was a permissions conflict in the system somewhere that was rejecting the uploaded avatars.

I would like to take this time to thank alligosh, the Principle System Administrator for HM and the one that helped get this problem resolved.

Go forth and upload ..... as long as you have the proper amount of posts first.

~regards, and THANKS, ALLIGOSH!!!!
