    Default Favicon.ico

    I saved my favicon.ico in the public_html file but I was just wondering why my favicon.ico only shows up in Mozilla Firefox2. So far I have tested it in Mozilla 2(Shows up) and IE7(doesn't show up). Does anyone know how to make a favicon.ico show up in IE7?(Or is it just for my browser that won't show up?)

    Internet Exploder. *sigh* Wow. Doesn't work on my Internet Exploder either. On any site that I know that has the icon.

    Internet "Exploder" shows the icon on the forums and Yahoo! on mine.

    Just put the favicon.ico all over the place.. Probably not the best advice but meh might work.

    Is your icon 16x16 pixels in size? Have you tried restarting IE? Have you tried clearing the cache and cookies?

    You haven't actually linked to your favicon in the headers.

    Firefox shows the icon by coincidence because if it doesn't find an explicit favicon reference, it looks for one at http://www.domain.com/favicon.ico.

    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/to/your/favicon.ico" />

    That's not necessary. I don't use favicon references in my headers, and mine are displayed fine in every browser that supports them.

    Actually it looks like its 28x30 and its in a format that IE can't read (i.e. if you go to domain.com/favicon.ico you just get a red x. I would check how you created favicon.ico file (and probably make it 16x16 to start with)

    PLUS you may want to reduce the file size of your main graphic on the homepage - its a whopping 536kb which even on my 2Mb connection takes a few seconds to load. Just imagine how long it would take on dial-up

    EDIT: Doh! It was 15x15 - I was looking at something else at the time lol Anyway, doesn't change the fact that IE can't open it so don't know if its not 16x16 or not... (Sorry for doubting your post )
