You'll might find the email is going to your local email address because the email users are still defined locally. (i.e. the SMTP server may be looking locally and seeing there is a user with the correct address and therefore not sending it out to the MX Server)
I'd try removing one of them and then try having an email sent.
(Oh and I'm assuming you've correctly set the MX records on your DNS record)
